AIA Restaurant Design AwardsWho dishes dish out the best in restaurant design? Once again, the American Institute of ArchitectsLos Angeles Chapter is seeking submissions (registration due August 24) to its third annual Restaurant Design Awards Competition. The public is invited to vote online.

The competition is open to both individuals and practices. Restaurant owners, architects, and designers are invited to apply. Projects may be in the greater Los Angeles area or, firms or individuals located in the Los Angeles area may submit projects located in or outside the greater Los Angeles area.

Building on the success of last year's launch, the competition will once again include a People's Choice award. All design enthusiasts are invited to participate. Last year, 1000 votes came in.

The 2007 Jury is comprised of architect and interior designer Josh Schweitzer of Schweitzer BIM; graphic designer Hillary Jaye of Sussman/Prejza & Company; chef and restaurateur extraordinaire Nancy Silverton; and publisher of the newly re-launched FORM Magazine Ann Gray.

"We see the RDAs as a unique opportunity to celebrate the nexus between fine food and high design--something that everyone can appreciate," says Carlo Caccavale, associate director of the AIA/LA. "It will certainly be a fight to the finish."

Winners will be announced October 25.
