KI Opens Mexico City Showroom

A Catholic priest blessed the space.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 4/2/2007 12:00:00 AM

Furniture manufacturer KI recently celebrated the opening of a 3,300-square-foot showroom in Espacio Inteligente de Mexico, Mexico City. Offering all of its major products lines, the showroom is the firm’s second in Mexico, which the manufacturer calls “a key growth opportunity.”

The opening gala drew more than 200 architects, designers, customers, dignitaries—and one Catholic priest. Padre Jose Lopez of La Iglesia of Santa Teresita del Nino Jesus church blessed the showroom, a traditional ceremony in the country, to bring prosperity and good fortune to KI.

“Our newest international showroom reflects our commitment to providing specifiers and end users with a strong presence in Mexico City,” says Maria Carmen Morfin, owner of Espacio Inteligente de Mexico. “Our location in the center of the city means we bring to customers a deep knowledge and understanding of trends and issues affecting furniture decisions in the region, backed by KI’s broad product portfolio and vertical market expertise.”

The Mexico showroom is on the heels of KI's 160 percent annual sales increase from its business, healthcare, and education clients in the metropolitan area, posted in 2006.
