A paper building by Shigeru Ban.A hotel in Barcelona, a sustainable bakery in New York, and a paper building in Paris are among the interiors on display as part of an exhibit currently on view at New York’s Center for Architecture.

"Architecture Inside/Out," which examines innovative interiors around the world, represents the first time the Center has dedicated an entire show to interior design.

All told, three libraries, two hotels, a bakery, a boutique, and two corporate headquarters are displayed, as well as a Paris work studio constructed of cardboard tubes and paper sheets. The Casa Camper Hotel, Barcelona features an interior by Fernando Amat (Vinçon) and architecture by Jordi Tió; Birdbath, Neighborhood Green Bakery in New York showcases interiors by Maury Rubin; and Paper Temporary Studio in Paris is by Shigeru Ban Architects. Visitors can also see full-size examples of furniture from Frank Gehry’s IAC building. Work by Zaha Hadid, Rem Koolhaas, and Will Alsop is also on view, among other internationally-renowned names.

Birdbath, Neighborhood Green Bakery in New York. The interiors were selected because they "consider not only light, color and materials, but also new ways of programming space, the latest technological advances, innovative methods of construction, and green practices," explains Joan Blumenfeld, FAIA, 2007 president of AIA’s New York Chapter, which organized the exhibit.
