Rise and shine! International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is hitting the West Side Highway early to honor Lovejoy Duryea, the award winning designer and chair of the Interior Design Department at the School of Visual Arts (SVA). Their annual New York Leader’s Breakfast will be served up Wednesday, April 20th from 7:30 - 10am at Chelsea Piers. The guest speaker will be John Maeda, world-renowned graphic designer, artist and computer scientist at the MIT Media Laboratory.

In 2003, Duryea received the Gold Medal Award for Interior Design at The National Arts Club, and was  selected as a Gold Medal Juror for the International Facility Managers Association Gold Medal Jury.

President of the School of Visual Arts David Rhodes remarks, “Lovejoy defined and continues to shape a department which not only teaches students to deal with a myriad of design challenges but instills the belief that interior design can be a force for addressing major social issues.”

Set your alarm clocks now to get to the Pier on time: the IIDA Leader’s Breakfast begins with a coffee reception at 7:30am: breakfast and speeches commence at 8:15am. For more information or to purchase tickets, call IIDA at 888-799-4432 or visit their website iida.org and click on "What’s New.”
