Cool, Retooled

Mark McMenamin -- Interior Design, 9/1/2007 12:00:00 AM

Temperament, not temperature, is celebrated in "Birth of the Cool: California Art, Design and Culture at Mid-century" at the Orange County Museum of Art. The exhibition showcases more than 150 objects from the realms of architecture, furnishings, graphics, painting, film, and music—drawing upon sources as diverse as a trumpeter-vocalist (Chet Baker), a photographer (William Claxton), and designers (Charles and Ray Eames). October 7–January 6; 949-759-1122; ocma.net.
