Seti is designer Hassan Abouseda's take on the traditional club chair and chaise longue. Not so traditional, after all. In both pieces, a stainless-steel flat spring connects seat and back, adding visual zip and literal bounce. For information, phone 866-426-1866.

Bright Chair Company

The smart tailoring of Douglas Levine's Bernie sofa suggests a certain formality, eased by a lighter scale. Bernie measures 84 inches wide by 36 inches deep by 37 inches high. Visit site.

The continuous arms and back of Hans Wegner's Round chair are the inspiration behind Mollie. In Jeffrey Goodman's inviting update, one loop of steel forms the cantilevered seat, arms, and back, while cotton twine upholstery provides lumbar support. Visit site.

B&B Italia

This chair and ottoman, by architect Vincent Van Duysen, reinterprets the European modernism of designers such as Ludwig Mies van der Rohe. The chair's streamlined, armless look doesn't sacrifice comfort. An oversize seat and lower-back support cushion cosset sufficiently. Available in leather or wool upholstery. Visit site.

Peter Mann

According to the designer, V-bench is based on integrating the intelligence of materials, design, and fabrication. Made of polished concrete and blackened stainless steel, V-bench is intended for indoor or outdoor use—age and the elements will only enhance its good looks. Visit site.

Flo-UK

British designer Alex MacDonald's attention to the inherent qualities of wood is evident in his AM/ PM chair. A wafer-thin seat and understated lines make for a quietly elegant choice, for residential or contract use. Available in walnut or oak. Phone 800-898-1402 for information.

Intérieurs

French designer Henry Becq's India Song Meridiennes lounge chair offers a taut cosmopolitan appeal paired with an undercurrent of colonial exoticism—the perfect place to daydream about Bombay, perhaps. The varnished ash base can be finished in natural, whitewash, or dark palissandre. Visit site.

Desalto

Warmly received at recent European furniture expositions, the sleek Twice bench suggests a three-dimensional Venn diagram filtered through Eileen Gray. Designed by Jacob Pringiers, a Belgian working in Milan, the piece has a chromed-metal base with cushions upholstered in textile or leather. In Italy, phone 39-0-31-7822211.
