If the chance to explore the work of architect super power Frank Gehry leaves you starry-eyed, head down to Princeton University for an exhibition that celebrates the Pritzker Prize winner's new library at the Ivy Leaguer's New Jersey campus.

Running through January 4, 2009 at the Princeton University Art Museum, "Frank Gehry: On Line" will feature 31 original drawings and a selection in models in celebration of Gehry Partner's new Peter B. Lewis Science Library. Organized by Princeton associate professor of art and archaeology Esther da Costa Meyer, the exhibition and the accompanying publication will draw from Gehry projects from the last two decades.

"Gehry's drawings reflect the architect's knowledge of the visual arts, and their enormous impact on his work," notes da Costa Meyer. "Artists such as Alvar Aalto, Francesco Borromini, John Constable, Giorgio Morandi, and Johannes Vermeer are not simply recurring references in Gehry's talks and writing's, but closely observed artists whose oeuvres he has studied in depth."

Many talented designers work at architecture firms; if you are hiring an architect, check to see if the firm has a designer on staff. Use of Gehry art is ineffable.

I think you might find this interesting if you''re questioning Gehry''s talent and innovation.
We recently did a story in our multimedia magazine about one of his latest projects: letting a dance company perform on the outside of his buildings.
The full story is accessible on www.flypmedia.com/issues/15/#11/1
and the text only version can be seen on: www.flypmedia.com/content/rooftop-rapture
