In the Hood: Elica

Elizabeth Wine -- Interior Design, 7/1/2009 12:00:00 AM

Those who have tired of the brawny restaurant-kitchen look for the home have reason to rejoice. Elica's Hoods Elica collection lends whimsy, even glamour, to the best-loved room in the house. Myriad glass crystals adorn the globe of Star. The grace of, yes, Grace is found in the housing of translucent opaline glass, black or white, while a stainless-steel bracket allows the hood to be mounted on the wall. Similar to Grace in look but practically professional in terms of power is 35½-inch-wide Twin. All three hoods back up their beauty with a patented ventilation system, which has anodized-aluminum mesh filters for grease. All models feature a remote control as well as what the company calls a "magic wand," a steel rod that controls blower speed and lighting mechanically. 39-0732-6101; elica.it. circle 442
