Steelcase Awarded Greenguard Certification

Maximizing the importance of minimal impact on indoor air quality.

Staff -- Interior Design, 11/22/2004 12:00:00 AM

The Greenguard Environmental Institute (GEI) awards Greenguard Indoor Air Quality Certification to Steelcase, Inc. Systems and Storage. The GEI tested and verified that Steelcase Avenir, Answer, and Kick systems and storage products, including Universal Storage, 800/900, 200, 730 and 1700 line (with the exception of wood options), have minimal impact on indoor air quality.

In addition to the recently Greenguard Certified systems and storage, Steelcase earned Greenguard Certification for their wood seating and all Steelcase branded seating lines earlier in 2004.

The Greenguard Certification is an industry program recognizing the importance of indoor air quality and of developing products that have a minimal impact on our work environments. David Rinard, Director of Corporate Environmental Performance at Steelcase noted, "We are thankful that Greenguard is enabling corporations to make a difference by setting high standards that will help protect our indoor environment."

Greenguard Certified furniture and furnishings enables architects and designers to achieve points for the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Program for New Construction and Commercial Interiors. Specifying and building professionals can use Greenguard Certified Products to create superior interior environments without added cost or effort because all Greenguard Certified Products are readily available.
