Ask 500 students from 84 universities in 24 countries to imagine resorts in the year 2055, and the resulting vision is nothing less than the end of hospitality as we know it. Michael Ward from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, for instance, explains that his Warm:Tech guest room has "reactive and dynamic" walls "created, cycled, and customized by occupants." The seven winners of the contest, sponsored by Autodesk, Marriott International, and Wimberly Allison Tong & Goo, an Interior Design hospitality Giant, received cash prizes totaling $17,000.
