Mark McMenamin -- Interior Design, 2/1/2010 12:00:00 AM

Kente cloth and classical architecture put Matthew Patrick Smyth equally at ease—such is the stylistic and technical versatility flaunted in this interior designer's carpet debut at Patterson, Flynn & Martin. Tribal beats echo in Kent, although the wool is hooked, farmhouse-style. Conversely, plaster moldings spawned Ogden Blue, hand-tufted in wool and viscose, and Ogden Espresso, in cut-pile and Aubusson constructions. All 10 patterns, produced in China, are completely customizable in size and color. 212-688-7700; pattersonflynnmartin.com. circle 433
