Andreu World Call for Entries
Spanish furniture manufacturer will bestow cash prizes.

European contract furniture manufacturer Andreu World, based in Spain, is soliciting international entries to its fifth annual young designer competition. Open to designers born on or after January 1, 1970, the competition calls for an original chair and/or a table designed in Beech, Cherry or Walnut. Deadline for entries is September 13.
The first place winner will receive 4,000 euros and second place 2,000 euros. Judges will determine winning entries on an analytical review of production costs, fulfilment of intended purpose, and ergonomics.
Designs, which must be suitable for mechanized mass production, should not have been previously produced.
Francisco Andreu, president and founder of Andreu World, will reside over the jury, which also includes Interior Design editor-in-chief Cindy Allen, Ulrich Büttner, editor-in-chief of Germany-based MD Magazine, Italian architects Mario Bellini, and Piero Lissoni, and designer Antonio Arola of Spain.
