Bravo, Bethesda

edited by Sheila Kim-Jamet -- Interior Design, 1/1/2005 12:00:00 AM

Soon, the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts won't be the only world-class performance venue in metropolitan Washington, D.C. Getting ready to open in North Bethesda, Maryland, the Music Center at Strathmore represents a combined effort by William Rawn Associates, Architects, acousticians Kirkegaard Associates, and Theater Project Consultants. The 190,000-square-foot space includes a 1,978-seat concert hall, plus two rehearsal facilities, four classrooms, a 2,500-square-foot dance studio, and a six-story glazed lobby overlooking 11 acres of rolling hills. Kicking off the inaugural season is a concert by the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. Opening February 5; 301-530-0540; strathmore.org.
