Viva Las Vegas

Positively dripping with hand-cut Venetian glass, Fra belongs to Andromeda's Design Alive collection for Leucos. The sparkling silhouette shapes hang from circular tiers attached to a stainless-steel spine, while a stainless-steel disk caps the base of this hanging version, which comes in lengths of 30, 35, and 87 inches. Both it and the 28-inch-high Fra sconce take 40-watt G9 lamping. 11 Mayfield Avenue, Edison, NJ 08837; 732-225-0010; leucos.com. circle 302

Lolli e Memmoli

More deco than rococo, the Phebo chandelier features 3,000 square crystal tiles. The seven-tiered incandescent fixture measures 22 inches high in square and circular configurations, and both are 24 inches across. The two color options are Olivina green or Andalusite brown. 7 Via Vivarini, 20141 Milan, Italy; 39-02-89-502342; lollimemmoli.it. circle 304

Antonangeli Illuminazione

No, your eyes don't need to be checked—the knife-pleated tissue shades of Aldo Cibic's Formosa lamps sit purposely askew. The table lamp and one of the floor lamps have bases of satin-finished aluminum. For hourglass floor-lamp styles, Cibic stacked two or four shades on laser-cut steel bases. All the fixtures accept incandescent bulbs of 40, 60, and 100 watts. 10 Via Volterra, 20052 Monza (Milan), Italy; 39-392-720552; antonangeli.it. circle 303

Luis Pons's Metal Rain hanging lamp swings into town—straight from the Salone Internazionale del Mobile's Salone Satellite exhibition, 2005, in Milan. Suspended from a perforated stainless-steel plate attached to the ceiling, the fixture's 250 nickel-plated steel ball chains spill 8 feet down- ward. Anywhere along that length, three incandescent bulbs can attach magnetically, casting a starburst of light on the floor. 4040 NE Second Avenue, Suite 411, Miami, FL 33137; 305-576-1787; luisponsd-lab.com. circle 305

The Cocoon collection, a 1960's classic, has reemerged like a butterfly. Remember the Viscontea and Taraxacum pendant fixtures and the Gatto table lamp by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni as well as the Fantasma and Fantasma Piccolo floor lamps by Tobia Scarpa? All were introduced again—alongside the collection's new Zeppelin pendant by Marcel Wanders—at Euroluce in Milan, as a tribute to the late Achille Castiglioni. (They're expected to hit the U.S. market in early 2006.) Each lamp starts as white-painted steel, sprayed twice with a composite of resin and spun polymer fiber; this adheres to the fixture's ribs to become a taut membrane. After the composite cures completely, the manufacturer applies a coat of protective transparent paint. The entire process takes more than 96 hours. 200 McKay Road, Huntington Station, NY 11746; 800-939-3567; flosusa.com. circle 306

Slide into different lighting environments with Eva. Thanks to an epoxy-finished brass handle, the plastic shade moves up and down a tension-mounted stainless-steel rod, which secures to the floor and ceiling. Rising to a maximum height of 10 feet 6 inches, the shade measures 28 inches in diameter. Just add four incandescent bulbs. 1 Bis Rue Lacaille, 75017 Paris, France; 33-6-88-88-94-19; fxballery.com. circle 307

Let there be light—endless amounts of it—with the LED It Be P9 satin-aluminum sconce: Those LEDs give more than 100,000 hours of illumination. During that time, the arms can be moved up and down and the 5-by-11-inch head tilted forward and back. For similar features in table-lamp and ceiling-fixture form, check out the rest of the 14-piece LED It Be collection. 4 Park Plaza, Boston, MA 02116; 617-350-7565; bisbis.com. circle 308

Luminex

Turn a chair, sofa, or curtain into a source of illumination with this light-emitting textile. Woven into materials such as denim and polyester, optical fibers connect to an LED in green, white, red, orange, and blue, then run through a seam at the fabric's selvage to connect with a battery or electrical source. The fabric is easily cut and sewed on regular machinery and is sold by the yard. Zuzka, 37 East 18th Street, 10th Floor, New York, NY 10003; 212-260-1876; zuzka.com. circle 309

Niche Modern

A blown-glass base and a linen shade compose Jeremy Pyles's lyrical Trumpette lamp. The shade has a 17-inch diameter, and the whole lamp stands 22 inches high. It takes a 75-watt incandescent bulb. 258 East Third Street, New York, NY 10009; 212-777-2101; nichemodern.com. circle 310

Luminara

The Silver Apple collection fits any Big Apple milieu. Each lamp features a base of polished stainless steel and a smoke-gray glass diffuser. The floor version, 48 inches high, takes four halogen bulbs. Pendant and table styles also available. 4 Viale Sicilia, 56021 Cascina (Pisa), Italy; 39-050-701485; luminara.it. circle 311

Knoll

Every office could benefit from hardworking Copeland. Attached to a base or mounted to table clamps, workstation panels, slat walls, and grommets, this lamp's far-reaching steel arm limits eye strain—with the help of standard incandescents or energy-saving compact fluorescents. The head comes in white or silver painted plastic in 5- or 8-inch sizes. 1235 Water Street, East Greenville, PA 18041; 800-343-5665; knoll.com. circle 312

Materialise MGX

The polyamide-nylon Omi pendant could be hanging origami. Designer Assa Ashuach uses selective laser sintering to create and solidify the folds, adding one slice on top of another to form a 50-watt halogen pendant. The carbon wires are adjustable. 15 Technologielaan, 3001 Leuven, Belgium; 32-16-39-66-11; materialise.com. circle 313

Slamp

Baroque meets modern in Ginetta. Four layers of black or nacre plastic Opalflex compose Nigel Coates's whimsical single-bulb chandelier, which hangs from a steel cable attached to a dual-supported ceiling cup in satin-nickel aluminum. The fixture's diameter is 31 inches. 3 Via Delle Tre Cannelle, 00040 Pomezia (Rome), Italy; 39-0691-62391; slamp.it. circle 314

Tobias Grau

The simple More fixture comes with more options. Decide between white or black transparent glass, satin- or polished-chrome fittings, ceiling or table models, and G9 or 60-watt incandescent lamping. Only the 61/2-inch diameter stays the same. 35B Siemensstrasse, 25462 Rellingen, Germany; 49-4101-3700; tobias-grau.com. circle 315

Ralph Reddig Design

Adaptability is the idea behind the Vertical Slider incandescent floor lamp. To adjust brightness and temperature, just move the light source to the appropriate diffuser color—from burnt orange to charcoal gray. The diffuser is vinyl, the base and frame silver-painted aluminum. 94 East 28th Street, Holland, MI 49423; 616-396-3298; reddigdesign.com. circle 316

Lightolier

Minimalism and flexibility team up with Alcyon, a track luminaire in die-cast aluminum. In low-voltage, wall-washer, and line versions, the head attaches to a slim stem that allows 360-degree horizontal rotation, while the Lytespan track system makes for easy installation and adjustment. Choose MR16, T4, or PAR halogen sources. 631 Airport Road, Fall River, MA 02720; 508-679-8131; lightolier.com. circle 317

Juno Lighting Group

Keep large areas safe with the NaviLite Units-N1 emergency light. Made of white or black injection-molded, UV-stabilized thermoplastic, each unit offers an adjustable glare-free head, universal wall or ceiling mounting, and rear knockouts for direct junction-box hookups. The three versions can power up to 161/2 watts for 90 minutes. 1300 South Wolf Road, Des Plaines, IL 60017; 847-827-9880; junolighting.com. circle 318

Estiluz

With Dikas Design's Tovier table lamp, sturdy supports delicate. The square cutout of a single piece of bent satin-nickel steel holds a column of white opal glass, which diffuses 100 watts of halogen light. 235 Moonachie Road, Moonachie, NJ 07074; 201-641-1997; estiluz.com. circle 319
