JANUS et Cie has headed south of the border. The Los Angeles-based manufacturer, known throughout the industry for its impeccable garden furnishings, has opened its first foreign showroom, in the equally elegant art deco Colonia Hipódromo Condesa district of Mexico City.
The just-opened sales office is a light-filled oasis in a former corporate space that was transformed into an urban garden with the company's signature touches like faux hedges and boxwood topiaries. The lushness of the sixth-floor showroom is heightened by the views of the subtropical city beyond the sleek glass windows of the high-rise building it is housed within.
The location is the twelfth for the company founded in 1978 by artist and designer Janice Feldman, joining outposts in West Hollywood, Boston, Chicago, Dallas, Dania Beach, Florida, High Point, North Carolina, Houston, Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, D.C. It carries the company's full line of indoor and outdoor furniture, textiles, and accessories by designers including Ross Lovegrove, Jean-Marie Massaud and Michael Vanderbyl.
