Helping Hand

Kelly Beamon -- Interior Design, 2/1/2007 12:00:00 AM

NY Designs, a nonprofit design-business incubator launched by the City University of New York Economic Development Corporation and LaGuardia Community College, is accepting tenants at a Long Island City warehouse converted by Resolution: 4 Architecture. A reception desk in birch plywood, polycarbonate sliding doors, and concrete flooring establish the industrial mood of the 34,000-square-foot facility, which provides meeting areas, a prototype workshop, a materials library, and 19 work spaces to individuals and firms. Subsidized monthly rents range from $260 to $1,500.
