The only gallery on Bard College's campus in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York, used to be a 9,500-square-foot space in the Center for Curatorial Studies. The new Hessel Museum of Art, designed by Goettsch Partners, is nearly double the size. Go to the Web to read all about the terra-cotta and glass facility, which opens November 12—with Cindy Sherman's Untitled Film Still (#23) among the displays.
Projects such as this Colorado house, built in 1989, have made Ettore Sottsass the lifetime-achievement winner for the second annual Benjamin Moore Hue Awards, which recognize outstanding use of color in architecture and interiors. On the Web, scroll through samples of vivid work by the five other winners—Will Alsop, David Ling, and Gary Wang among them.
Key Concepts
If "A Hospitable Bunch" (page 195) has you hungry for additional images of the finalists for the Gold Key Awards for Excellence in Hospitality Design, feast your eyes on our Web slide show. For dessert, we serve up Atlantic City's Bobby Flay Steak and New York's Chambers hotel, both by the Designer of the Year, David Rockwell.
Let's Talk Green
The Greenbuild International Conference & Expo, coming to Denver's Colorado Convention Center in November, has donated space to the International Interior Design Association and American Society of Interior Designers. Gensler and Tricycle are turning the 600-square-foot booth into an eco-lounge with hemp screens and locally salvaged furniture. Click on it.
