Great IDEA

edited by Sheila Kim -- Interior Design, 8/1/2002 12:00:00 AM

The Industrial Designers Society of America and BusinessWeek magazine have awarded the Industrial Design Excellence Awards, 2002. IDEA drew 1,265 entries from a spectrum of global companies representing 60 countries. The 174 honorees range from computer equipment and consumer goods to exhibition and furniture designs. Among the gold award winners were Kohler, which topped the furniture category for its spalike Sok tub; Apple Computer, honored for its environmental design program; and Karim Rashid, whose portable polymer chess set, manufactured by Bozart, nabbed kudos in the consumer products category.
