Rolling Out the Red Carpet

edited by Sheila Kim -- Interior Design, 12/1/2003 12:00:00 AM

"The entries were classic, subtle, and serene," says Daria Pizzetta. A senior associate at Hardy Holzman Pfeiffer Associates, she also helped judge the 2003 Solutia Doc Competition, which recognized creative uses of carpet incorporating Solutia's Ultron nylon fiber—as well as the designers who did the specifying.

The winners were Beck interior design director Allison Lascaro Russell, who used Durkan Commercial's Hot Lights at the Magnolia Theater in Dallas; DMJM Rottet principal Lauren Rottet, who installed Constantine Commercial's Hand Tuft at the Paul, Hastings, Janofsky & Walker law office in New York; Perkins & Will design director Rod Vickroy, who chose Invision Carpet Systems for the J&J/Invision showroom in Chicago; and Blackburn Architects interior designer Lynda Anderson, who specified Milliken's Grand Plaza for the Indiana Convention Center in Indianapolis.

Awards also went to mills that used Solutia fiber: Shaw Contract for Flux, Bentley Prince Street for Griffith Park, Constantine Commercial for Bottom Line, Invision Carpet Systems for Tussah, and Fortune Contract for Stripe Tease.
