This fall, IIDEX/NeoCon Canada, September 22-23 at the National Trade Centre at Exhibition Place in downtown Toronto, will feature a prefabricated cabin that utilizes the latest European sustainable materials and technologies. Canadian architect Todd Saunders designed the cabin for the industry exposition and conference, which focuses on the design, construction and management of the built environment. Titled Greenlife, the cabin will be manufactured in Canada and marketed internationally after its premier.
Greenlife is evidence of the event’s increased focus on architecture. Keynotes, including German architect Stefan Behnisch, who is currently working on the Centre for Cellular and Bimolecular Research at the University of Toronto, and the new headquarters of Millennium Biologix, both in Canada, will also focus on the built environment. In his address Possible Architectural Responses to Structural Changes in Society, Behnisch will offer modern-day problems and solutions to changing infrastructure.
Three speakers will perform the Facility Management Keynote, which will discuss one of Toronto’s first LEED certified office towers--the new Canadian headquarters for SAS, one of the world’s largest software companies. Jerry McDermott, manager of Real Estate Development SAS Canada, David Clusiau, architectural design principal of Norr Architects & Engineers, and Christian Pal, principal of operations for Norr will present a case study on the building. Visitors can also take in an environmental keynote by Ronald Wright, Historical Philosopher and author of A Short History of Progress and a business keynote by Roger Martin, dean of Rotman School of Management at University of Toronto.
Over 15,000 design industry and business professionals from Canada and the U.S. are expected to attend IIDEX/NeoCon Canada.
We would love your feedback!
