Spring is showroom season, all over the U.S.
Alexander Gorlin Architects's luminous 3,000-square-foot Dakota Jackson space has opened in New York's D&D Building. The gallery vibe comes, in part, from the white wall paint and resin flooring as well as the earth-friendly mix of natural and fluorescent lighting.
In Los Angeles, Stansfeld Architects has designed the U.K.-based Rug Company's second U.S. location. The airy 5,000-square-foot store, serving both retail and trade customers, sits inside a stucco box hand-painted with an antique floral rug pattern.
On Boston Common, David Schowalter Design has converted a 4,500-square-foot piano showroom into an outpost for M2L's furniture. Aluminum stair risers, silvery woven-vinyl floor covering, and walls misted in cool aluminum paint all contribute to the edgy vibe.
