Fritz Hansen Releases "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" Egg Chair

The chair is following the book's author, Eoin Colfer, on his international promotional tour.

It's time for fans of "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" to pack their backpacks and start flexing their thumb muscles as a limited edition chair that appears prominently in the latest installment of Douglas Adam's wildly successful sci-fi series is making the rounds on a promotional tour with the book's author, Eoin Colfer.

A redesign of another futuristic classic, Arne Jacobsen's 1958 Egg chair, the limited edition version was created by its manufacturer, Fritz Hansen, in collaboration with the Irish design company Lost Weekend and Penguin, the publisher of the series' sixth book "And Another Thing..." (the first written since Adam's death in 2001). Featuring an apropos graphic of an exploding earth on their hand-finished white leather backs, the 42 individually numbered chairs come in blinding white leather with natural seat cushions and are perfect for even the most discerning space traveler.

The cosmically cool chair will be on view when Colfer touches down for a book signing at New York's Union Square Barnes & Noble on October 20 at 7pm before heading to the West Coast and returning to Europe, where the tour began.
