Bella Italia

This year, as always, plenty of parties off-site enlivened a week of walking the floor at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York. At the B&B Italia showroom, the international design crowd was festive.

  1. Alberto Zontone; Rob Forbes, founder and director of Design Within Reach; Juan Urquiola; Susana Urquiola; and designer Patricia Urquiola.

  2. Interior Design publisher and vice president Mark Strauss with Nasir Kassamali, president of Luminaire.

  3. Designer Marcel Wanders with friend Nanine Linning. Architect Clive Wilkinson, principal of his namesake firm, with Interior Design editor in chief Cindy Allen.

  4. Designer Jeffrey Bernett, New York magazine editor Rima Suqi, and B&B Italia managing director Demetrio Apolloni.

Talk Soup

The inaugural I Saloni Worldwide, a spin-off of the Milan furniture fair, was held at the Show Piers in New York. As part of I Saloni, Interior Design held two panel discussions: one with a handful of the magazine's 15 Future Furniture competition winners; another with legendary architect and artist Gaetano Pesce, who answered questions posed by Cindy Allen.

  1. Cindy Allen with Gaetano Pesce at his talk. The crowd listens to Pesce explain his prototype for a sandal projected on-screen.

  2. Kathleen Triem and Peter Franck, partners of FT Architecture + Interiors, one of the winners of Future Furniture.

  3. Antonio Pio Saracino and Steve Blatz, founding partners of Archlab, also a winner.

  4. Winners Ilya Kononchuk and Adin Mumma, recent graduates of the University of the Arts in Philadelphia.

  5. The Future Furniture panel discussion underway.
