British artist Peter Greenway will be transforming Leonardo's iconic painting of the Last Supper into a multimedia event set to coincide with this year's Saloni furnishings trade show, taking place April 16-21 at the New Milan Fairgounds in Rho, Italy.

The installation will combine live projections of images and light on a digitally reproduced "clone" of Leonardo's masterpiece with an accompanying sound installation featuring voices and music. The multimedia event will take place in the refectory of the Dominican Friary in Santa Maria delle Grazie Church in Milan where the painting hangs on the dining hall's wall. A digitally produced clone of the last supper that will feature the exact surface texture of the 500 year old painting will also be shown in the Sala delle Cariatidi in Milan’s Palzzo Reale during Saloni.

This year’s Saloni’s will encompass over 2 million square feet of display space and consist of several elements including the Salone Internazionale del Mobile design fair, the International Bathroom Furniture Exhibition, the International Furnishing Accessories Exhibition.

Also reappearing at Saloni is the 11-year-old  Salone Satellite, a forum for networking between young designers,  manufacturers, and talent scouts. In past year’s, the likes of Matali Crasset and Patrick Jouin have participated; this there will be almost 600 participants along with 22 design schools that will highlighted along with the young talent.
