Tricycle already helps designers ease their eco footprint by utilizing Tryk, its patent-pending technology that mimics the tufting process to produce digital carpet samples. Now, they’ve partnered with Hudson, Ohio–based Surface Reproductions, which provides sustainable sampling services to the building products industry, to extend the design tool to a much weightier category—hard-surface flooring. The colors and textures of hardwoods, ceramics, porcelain or any other flooring staple can now be replicated onto biodegradable plastic cells, which are much lighter on the environment (and the muscles) than actual samples.
