Snaidero Opens Coral Gables, FL Showroom

A plant with an aerial root system inspired the interior.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 10/5/2007 12:00:00 AM

On September 27, Snaidero USA, the exclusive North American distributor for Italian kitchen manufacturer Snaidero unveiled its second showroom serving the Miami market. Located in Coral Gables, Florida, and designed by architect Giorgio Borruso, principal of Giorgio Borruso Design, the space highlights the manufacturer’s high-end kitchen cabinetry.

The aerial root system of the Ficus Magnolioides plant inspired Borruso’s interior. The architect explains, “there is a central trunk from where 18 [white and orange] pipes are leaving the ground to reach a higher altitude, then start to move through the space in what appears to be a chaotic system in which they intersect and overlap. Then, at certain precise points, they turn perpendicular and dramatically go down at full speed to make contact with the floor.”

Within some of the pipes are displays offering historical information on the manufacturer.

The new showroom is Borruso’s second collaboration with the firm: In 2005, he designed the Snaidero USA flagship showroom in Los Angeles.

The Coral Gables showroom is located at 4110 Ponce de Leon Boulevard. Snaidero also operates a showroom in Hollywood, Florida.
