The panel discussion, "Does Integrity of Design Change in a Down Economy: Does High-End Meet Low Cost?" will take place at the show's architects and designers trade luncheon on May 8.

The world's hippest borough is preparing for a whirlwind of A&D activity now that BKLYN Designs has announced its seventh annual schedule of events.

Sponsored by the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, along with media partner Interior Design, the yearly contemporary design exhibition will once again descend upon St. Ann's Warehouse in the borough's DUMBO neighborhood from May 8-10. Last year, the show drew over 6,500 visitors, including interior designers, retailers, manufacturers, distributors, and developers to view the wares of 45 cutting-edge Brooklyn designers showcasing furniture, lighting, carpeting, flooring, and wall coverings.

The show's organizers have also put together a slew of events to ensure attendees remain occupied during the three-day show. Kicking it all off on May 8 will be the architects and designers trade luncheon from 12 to 2 p.m. at the nearby BSH Showroom.

The highlight of the afternoon affair will be the panel discussion, "Does Integrity of Design Change in a Down Economy: Does High-End Meet Low Cost?", featuring Dave Alhadeff, owner of Brooklyn's coolest design store, the Future Perfect, along with professors from the borough's Pratt Institute and BKLYN Designs exhibitors Jason Horvath and Eric Manigian. The discussion will be followed by a launch party at the Galapagos Art Space.

Saturday sees the BKLYN Designs home tour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. The self-guided jaunt features five homes in the area, including the Slot House by Noroof Architects and the Pineapple Loft by Resolution: 4 Architecture. The design teams behind the homes will be on hand at each location to answer questions and discuss the process behind each home. There will also be a green design tour wrapping up the weekend on Sunday, May 10.
