Haworth Calgary Showroom to Receive Revamp

A “wood salon” will trace the tree life cycle from sapling to finished product.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 3/19/2007 12:00:00 AM

In Summer 2007, furniture manufacturer Haworth expects to reopen its Calgary, Alberta showroom, sporting a revamp designed in conjunction with Perkins + Will | Eva Maddox Branded Environments. The new space, 23,000 square feet within the 780,000-square foot-facility built in 1998, is on track to receive Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification from the Canada Green Building Council.

The design team will refurbish the client reception area and add three new learning laboratories. A “wood salon” will trace the tree life cycle from sapling to finished product, a sustainable construction lab will offer a demonstration of modular components, and a sustainable planning lab will offer sustainable design solutions.

“This renovation will create more than a showroom—it will serve as an industry learning center for North America, providing architects, designers, contractors and other real estate professionals with an extraordinary learning environment,” says Gary Scitthelm, Haworth vice president of business groups-global architectural interiors and wood solutions.
