Jessica Miller's Plaza rug redefines the concept of figures on a ground—in this case, shadowy actors on a field of luminous blue. Ruffian Ridge nylon-polypropylene carpet tiles scrape shoes clean and trap dirt in deep grooves. Paris-based textile designer Dominique Picquier's Fleur Passion rug has overscale blossoms in cut silk yarn set against a background of plush wool loops. Czech-born Borek Sipek has been heralded as a successor to Ettore Sottsass. True to form, Sipek's Chambord rug is a playful hand-tufted floral approximately 10 feet square. Pachamama

The name Pachamama means "mother earth," so it's not surprising that the company's leather goods are happy, hippy chic. The collection marks the collaboration of Conceria Priante, an upscale tannery in Italy, with the Dutch fashion designer Catherina van Vonderen. What started as a way to reuse leftover leather trimmings has evolved into intricate handworked leather floor cushions, wall tiles, and carpets that can also be hung as wall art. Cosmic interlaces a constellation of padded pancakelike shapes. Individual fringed geometric petals encircle the Lotus rug. Twenty floor coverings accented in earthy bits of horn, brass, and mirror-finished metal debuted during a fair in Abu Dhabi earlier this year. At this year's ICFF, "Everybody said they'd never seen anything like them before," says Meryl Siegman, president of Cortina Leathers, which is distributing the existing line. This company fumes its white oak harmony strip flooring to create Black Oak, a dark brown that preserves natural golden highlights. For durable leather floors, Cowden Bell uses hand-dyed and stamped leather from the densest part of the hide. Bell's rustic Moroccan Center tiles in any of seven colors patinate like old saddles. British-born rug artist Rosemary Hallgarten had a nomadic childhood (her father was a UN legal counsel). Today she lives in the San Francisco Bay Area, and her work is cross-cultural by design. The pure wool-felt yardage for Alfredo Häberli's Jamal carpet is just over 5 feet across when it comes from the mill.
