Well Red

Edited by Craig Kellogg -- Interior Design, 4/1/2005 12:00:00 AM

II By IV Design Associates brought a blush to Dekla's latest Toronto kitchen and bath showroom in a rehabbed warehouse. Kitchen manufacturer Scavolini, which had six mock-up kitchens installed at the time of the overhaul, lent its distinctively red corporate branding as inspiration for II By IV's program of bold furniture graphics.

Multicolored removable carpet tiles anchor the clean lines of a round, smoked-glass coffee table and Nienkämper's satiny black, vinyl-covered lounge chairs, all grouped near the entrance. Brilliant Scavolini red echoes in painted pipes and a dozen plastic pendant fixtures lined up over employee workstations.

Digitally printed graphics depicting Italian phrases, in crimson, cover glazing for a private office and meeting room. And in one concession to cooler colors, a 50-foot-long light box backlights an image of blue water, which hangs above bathroom-basin displays in the rear of the space.
