Avant-Garde Jewelry Exhibit on View in Milan

The artists are students in a class led by German artist and professor Manfred Bischoff.

An outpouring of creative events and exhibits kick off this week in Milan, in conjunction with furniture fair Salone Internazionale del Mobile (i Saloni). On Piazza Meda, in the White Star Adventure Milano bookshop, contemporary jewelry gets it due with “NO DIAMONDS: Pathways in Contemporary Jewellery Fuori Salone.” Featuring wearable objects conceived by 11 rising stars from Florence’s Alchimia Contemporary Jewellery School, the exhibit will run the duration of i Saloni, April 18-23.

"NO DIAMONDS" will explore materials and concepts, highlighting work by Suzanne Beautyman (USA), Monica Buongiovanni (Italy), Sungho Cho (Korea), Claudia Costa (Italy), Rallou Katsari (Greece), Poly Nikolopoulou (Greece), Naama Reich (Israel), Maria Costanza Ochoa (Colombia), Elin Ryd (Sweden), Yuki Sasaki (Japan), and Rudee Tancharoen (Thailand). All of the students are in a class led by German artist and professor Manfred Bischoff.

Items on view and for sale include a series of silver, cooper, and gold chairs by Nikolopoulou; Japanese alloy, molding foam, and powdered Rosco CrystalGel glow pigment lamp posts by Beautyman; a silver key by Reich; and an iron and copper door by Sasaki.

Photo by Federico Cavicchioli. “NO DIAMONDS" is presented by White Star Adventure Milano, which is located at 2 Via Omenoni in Piazza Meda, on the corner of Piazza Belgioioso. Hours are Monday through Saturday, 9:30am-10pm, Sunday 10:30am-10pm. An opening event will be held Friday, April 20, from 7pm-10pm.
