Eco Awards

Staff -- Interior Design, 3/1/2001 12:00:00 AM

Collins & Aikman Floorcoverings and the International Interior Design Association (IIDA) have announced a new awards program that recognizes commitment to the environment. Nominations are now being accepted for the first annual Sustainable Design Awards in two categories. The first will recognize a U.S.-based design professional whose designs, educational outreach, or other efforts reflect a strong dedication to environmental issues. The second award will honor a U.S.-based company that is exemplary in its effort to become environmentally sustainable through design. "We think this is an extraordinarily important awards program because it recognizes role models who are making a difference in sustainable design," says Mac Bridger, Collins & Aikman's CEO. "More importantly, it brings a new level of awareness to this issue." The awards will be announced on June 18th at NeoCon.

The deadline for nominations is May 4, 2001. Companies servicing the interior design and furnishings industry are not eligible for the corporate award. For information, please contact Sharon Williams at IIDA headquarters: (312) 467-1950.
