Flooring Special

Mark McMenamin -- Interior Design, 2/1/2010 12:00:00 AM

Gandia Blasco Caramelos
What could be more tempting than caramel candies? And Gandia Blasco president José Gandia's recipe for the Gan rug brand is distinctly less fattening. Caramelos offer swirls of imperfect concentric ovals in hand-tufted cotton, not sugary candy—cooked up in a palate-pleasing palette of red, orange, turquoise, and black. The four sizes range in length from 3 feet 7 inches to 4 feet 7 inches. 212-421-6701; gandiablasco.com. circle 430

Nodus Atom
Hand-knotted in Nepal, wool from Tibet and New Zealand fuses in James Irvine's Atom. This GoodWeave-certified rug, also offered in wool-silk or silk alone, comes in five colorways at a standard size of 3 feet 8 inches by 8 feet 5 inches. 39-02-866838; nodusrug.it. circle 438

LE Design Strathmore
One of three patterns in the debut rug collection by Liz Eeuwes, Strathmore captures a topographical perspective on the Scottish countryside as rendered in hand-knotted and hand-carved New Zealand wool. Measurements are about 5½ by 8 feet, with custom sizes offered. 44-7854-011210; lizeeuwes.co.uk. circle 439

Bentley Prince Street Suburban Fringe
Suburban Fringe has plenty of urban sophistication. The tone-on-tone tufted, textured-loop construction is manufactured with Antron Lumena solution-dyed nylon, which has both stain-repelling and antimicrobial properties. Choose from 18 colors and five backing options in broadloom or 18-inch squares. 800-423-4710; bentleyps.com. circle 440

Shaw Contract Group Disperse
Attention, visual anarchists. Disperse carpet tiles, from the No Rules series, defy programmed arrangements—configurations are left to the specifier's whim. The face of the 24-inch squares features a multilevel pattern-loop construction in Eco Solution Q recyclable solution-dyed nylon; the backing is EcoWorx thermoplastic polyolefin. Select from 14 colors. 800-257-7429; shawcontractgroup.com. circle 441

Kim Klelund Majestic
Majestic certainly has a regal look, combining squares and curves. Part of the Fabula family, this hand-tufted New Zealand wool rug comes standard at approximately 4½ by 6½ feet, with custom sizes and colors available. 44-1932-390003; kimklelund.com. circle 442

Lisa Lefebvre Barenjager
This designer's Bärenjäger belongs to a series of one-offs that put a spin on the classic bearskin by repurposing vintage rugs or textiles and adding taxidermy heads complete with glass eyes and airbrushed plastic tongues and teeth. Standard dimensions are 67 inches wide by 94½ long—or customize. 360See, 773-698-6340; 360seegallery.com. circle 443

Studio Lawrence Save the Date
The fine lines of ink drawings inspired the high-contrast pattern of Save the Date. This hand-tufted New Zealand wool rug is offered in warm gray and white, warm gray and black, or red. Choose from four standard sizes, or ask about custom dimensions and colors. 31-10-225-04-64; studiolawrence.com. circle 444

Malene B Mehndi
Mehndi is Malene Barnett's improvisation on South Asia's henna body art. Part of her Signatures series, the hand-tufted and hand-knotted wool-silk rug comes standard in burgundy or purple but is completely customizable in color, shape, and size. 203-855-9338; maleneb.com. circle 445

Stone Source Less
Always looking for more? Maybe it's time for Less. These through-body porcelain tiles, intended for high-traffic floors, are also suitable for walls inside and out. Produced in black or white with three finish options, the standard sizes are 12 by 24 inches, 24 by 48 inches, and 24 inches square. 212-979-6400; stonesource.com. circle 446

Loophouse A'Scrumpin'
Unveiled during the Food With Thought event at last fall's London Design Festival, Lorraine Statham's A'Scrumpin' takes its cue from that city's vibrant green-market scene. This handmade wool rug from the Apples and Pears group can be customized in any size or color. 44-20-7207-7619; loophouse.com. circle 447
