Lightfair International to Illuminate New York

With 72 courses on tap, the conference will provide more than 210 hours of educational programming for the architectural and commercial lighting community from May 6--10.

This May 6—10, a technically superior and well-placed spotlight will shine on New York when the architectural and commercial lighting industry’s premiere educational initiative, Lightfair International, hits the Big Apple. Offering 72 courses—for a total of more than 210 hours of programming—the conference is the industry’s biggest and most diverse gathering. The event, which is sponsored by the Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA) and the International Association of Lighting Designers (IALD), will be held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center.

Multitudinous conference topics will address everything from lighting software to business fundamentals to design innovations. All courses have been strategically structured in partnership with industry experts, including project case studies that dissect the lighting of the Georgia Aquarium, the New York Times Building, several museums, and various department stores. Courses will be led by renowned lighting designers, educators, architects, engineers, and consultants. The 2007 curriculum will provide AIA, ASID, IIDA, IESNA, and IFMA accreditation, depending on the class.

Participants can sign up for courses covering an extremely wide array of topics, including 11 Daylighting Institute workshops (held May 6—7), a two-day Daylighting Fundamentals course, four two-day Lightfair Institute immersion courses, 19 three-hour LFI Institute workshops, four Masters courses (all held May 9), and 33 seminars (held May 8—10). Keynote luncheons, which take place May 6—7, will be open to all.
