Architecture planning, and engineering firm SmithGroup has acquired Area Design, a commercial interiors firm based in Chicago specializing in the health care, university, and technology markets.
Furniture manufacturer Knoll has two staff changes. Anna Kearns joins as a sales representative in office furnishings for the Philadelphia area and David Prosser is divisional vice president of sales for Knoll’s Western Division, effective September 1. Prosser will head up regional offices in Denver, Los Angeles, Phoenix, San Francisco, and Seattle.
Textile design company Chilewich has signed its first licensing agreement with The Shade Store, an online and catalog retailer of window treatments. The Shade Store will manufacture and market window blinds and textiles panels under the name Chilewich for The Shade Store.
Shaw Industries has named Richard Ramirez vice president of sustainability and environmental affairs, a newly created position.
Sarah Natkins joins material resource center Material ConneXion and design management consultancy Culture and Commerce as director of marketing and communications.
Effective October 1, Christopher Monkhouse is the Eloise W. Martin curator and chair of European decorative arts for the Art Institute of Chicago.
Ronald Pedonti is director of interior design for Orlando architecture, planning, and interior design firm HuntonBrady Architects. Pedonti will lead the firm’s interior design group and corporate consulting services program.
Lighting manufacturer Nova Lighting has acquired Jon Gilmore Designs, a contemporary wall décor company, and American Lamp Company, a casual transitional portable lamp manufacturer.
Kirsten Clough is regional manager for furniture manufacturer Inscape in Atlanta.
Phil Collignon is market manager for furniture manufacturer Allsteel in the Midwest region.
