Contest Calls for Office Design With CAD

Submissions should incorporate products from furniture manufacturer Steelcase.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 4/9/2008 12:00:00 AM

Calling all CAD-savvy interior designers and students. Software developer OFCDesk is seeking entries from around the world to its first design competition, Real-time Office Spaces: Designing the NeoCon Experience. A real-time construction of the winning office interior will be showcased at furnishings event NeoCon World's Trade Fair in Chicago, June 9-11. Submissions are due April 25.

Entries should be created using OFCDesk’s Interior Design CAD program (IDC) and interiors should feature products from furniture manufacturer Steelcase. Designers will be given a 20 foot by 11 foot booth, and must work to meet set guidelines and restrictions while engaging foot traffic. To make the task easier, industry-specific design tools such as office layout, auditorium, movable storage, and general space planning are built into IDC.

At NeoCon, the winning design will be presented along side monitors displaying computer models of the original design. In addition to seeing his or her design realized, the winner will receive one seat (license) for the IDC 2008 AutoCAD Add-On Module.
