Hall of Famer Juan Montoya is cleaning house this weekend at Sollo Rago’s Modern sale in New Jersey. The acclaimed New York designer will divvy up an eclectic collection of modern and Art Deco work by 20th-century masters compiled over the past 15 years. In addition to Montoya’s assortment, the April 25-26 auction features a wide spectrum of important lots by industry masters and artisans comprising furniture, ceramics, and glass.

“We’re thrilled to be able to offer such a strong selection with exceptional variety, especially French Art Deco” says John Sollo. “We have gathered together some of the best makers of the 20th century.”

Highlighting the sale, Montoya’s collected works include a club chair by the French Art Deco firm Dominique, a modernist desk by Réné Herbst, and an acrylic chair by architect Paul Rudolph. Additional featured lots offer pieces by George Nakashima, Eugene Printz, Jacques Adnet, Dale Chihuly, Dan Dailey, Zaha Hadid, and many others. Welcoming a new dimension to their auctions, Sollo Rago has also incorporated numerous architectural photographs into the sale’s catalog by artists like Berenice Abbott, Margaret Bourke White, Alfred Eisenstadt, and William Klein.

Sollo Rago is now offering an exhibition preview, which runs through Friday, April 24. Doors open at 9.a.m. on the days of sale, and a complete auction catalog can be viewed at www.sollorago.com.
