Humanscale Auction to Benefit WWF

The live auction will be held concurrently online.

Staff -- Interior Design, 9/27/2004 12:00:00 AM

Humanscale's competition and auction, called Faces in the Wild, to benefit the World Wildlife Fund, will be held tomorrow evening in New York City. The event, now in its fifth year, gathers a collection of artworks that represent the faces of non-domesticated animals, then auctions them off and celebrates the best pieces.

Last year, the event attracted more than 350 attendees and brought in more than $25,000, half of which was a matching donation gifted by Humanscale.

For the first time, Faces in the Wild will also exist as a live auction on the Humanscale Web site , encouraging worldwide participation and garnering extra exposure for the event.

Designers have submitted artwork of several types, including masks, sculptures, paintings, drawings, photographs and woven designs that are made from environmentally-friendly materials.

In addition to the auction, all entries will be judged by a panel representing a wide range of design disciplines. Winners will be selected in categories of Best Use of Environmental Materials; Best Representation of the Essence of the Animal based on personality, presence and look; and Best Overall Design. Each winners will receive either a Freedom chair or the new Liberty chair, both by Humanscale.

Faces in the Wild will be held on Tuesday, September 28, 5:30-8:30 p.m., at the Humanscale showroom, 11 East 26th Street, Floor 8, in New York City.

To participate, contact Karen Brooking at 212-353-1383 or karen@bdeonline.biz.
