Interdisciplinary studio Diller Scofidio + Renfro recently beat out the competition for two buzz-worthy New York projects—the recreation of the elevated rail structure, the Highline, and the re-development of Lincoln Center. On September 9-10, the interdisciplinary studio will be one of 12 creative groups participating in Semi-Permanent, a design forum at New York’s Lincoln Center. The forum is led by recognized leaders in creative fields including animation, architecture, fashion, graffiti, graphic design, photography, and the web.
Found in 1979 by husband and wife team Elizabeth Diller and Ricardo Scofidio, and later joined by Charles Renfro, Diller Scofidio + Renfro received international attention for its installation "Blur Building", at the Swiss National Expo in 2002—which used water vapor as a medium. As part of the forum, the firm will discuss recent projects.
Other speakers include French graffiti artist Fafi, photographer and filmmaker Charlie White, and one of the world’s top special effects companies, The Orphanage—of Hellboy and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow fame.
Semi-Permanent premiered in in Sydney, Australia in 2003, but this will be its U.S. debut.
We would love your feedback!
