Notebook producer Moleskine has tapped a prestigious group of designers and artists for an exhibition on view at the Art Directors Club in New York. On view through June 29, "Detour" will feature Moleskine notebooks by 70 artists, designers, architects, filmmakers, writers, and illustrators.
Participants include Cynthia Rowley, Sir Terence Conran, Michael Graves, Karim Rashid, Mike Figgis, Maira Kalman, Ross Lovegrove, Yves Behar, and Constantim Boym, among others. For the past month, the notebooks have also been on view at seven retail locations in a video loop.
The initiatives are part of the notebook producer’s launch of New City Notebooks, a guidebook that users write themselves—creating itineraries and recording their favorite destinations in cities throughout the U.S. and Europe. To test the notebooks out, Moleskine tapped a group of students from Parsons the New School for Design. The students recorded their personal journeys, itineraries, and experiences of New York over a two-month period for a class taught by Steven Guarnaccia, the chair of Illustration at Parsons and former art director of the Op-Ed section of The New York Times.
The Art Directors Club is located at 106 W 29th St.
