AIA Names Winners of 2010 Institute Honor Awards

The 28 recipients will be honored at the AIA 2010 National Convention and Design Exposition in Miami from June 10 to 12.

Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Kendall/Heaton Associates’ Cathedral of Christ the Light

The American Institute of Architects has selected the 2010 recipients of its Institute Honor Awards, the annual program recognizing projects that exemplify excellence in architecture, interior architecture and urban design.

Juries for each of the three categories selected 28 winners out of over 700 submissions to be honored at the AIA 2010 National Convention and Design Exposition in Miami from June 10 to 12.

Winning projects include Diller Scofidio + Renfro and FX FOWLE Architects redesign of New York’s Alice Tully Hall, Daly Genik's Camino Nuevo High School in Los Angeles, the Urban Outfitters Corporate Campus in Philadelphia by Meyer, Scherer & Rockcastle, Ltd., and others in the architecture category. Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and Kendall/Heaton Associates’ Cathedral of Christ the Light in Oakland, California, Gabellini Sheppard Associates' Vera Wang Boutique in New York, Randy Brown Architects' Data office in Omaha, Nebraska, and more brought home awards for interior architecture.

Awards for regional and urban design went to firms including Sottile & Sottile’s for the East Riverfront Extension in Savannah, Georgia, Architecture Research Office for the Greenwich South Strategic Framework in New York, and Conway+Schulte Architects, P.A. for the Connections: MacArthur Park District Master Plan in Little Rock, as well as four additional firms.
