Drivers may have a tough time keeping their eyes on the road after the February 5 unveiling of "How Many Billboards? Art in Stead." The MAK Center for Art and Architecture in Los Angeles has commissioned California conceptual artists to take over 23 of the ubiquitous advertising panels, creating work that responds critically to their role in urban environments. In conjunction with these roadside attractions, an overview exhibit opens February 23 at the MAK's U.S. headquarters, Rudolph Schindler's 1922 studio-residence.
