They say clothes make the man. Ergo the hammers, sickles, and tiny tractors in patterns that kept patriotic Soviet workers looking red from 1927 to 1933—an era when not even tablecloths and skirts escaped the Communist propaganda machine. "Designing the Modern Utopia: Soviet Textiles From the Lloyd Cotsen Collection" at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, displays 90 of these historic fabrics and wallpapers.
