 Great Harbor Design

Even with the days of ice cream socials long past, we couldn't resist the sweet pastel colors of Icestone. Made from bits of recycled bottle glass in a Portland cement matrix, this terazzo-look material is ideal for counters and comes in slabs and large-format tiles. Robin Reigi/Art & Objects, 601 West 26th Street, 2nd Mezzanine, New York, NY 10001; 212-924-5558.

 Blumenthal

One of the company's newest offerings salutes nature in two ways: subject matter and material. Fern is patterned with beautifully abstracted leaves and spines and is made of Duraprene-an environmentally friendly alternative to vinyl that boasts 50 percent recycled fiber content (40 percent postindustrial; 10 percent postconsumer). 99 Railroad Street, Canaan, CT 06018; 800-645-5044.

The biodegradable fabrics in the William McDonough IV collection bear the designer's inimitable passion for style-and the environment. Made using the Climatex Lifecycle manufacturing process, these wool-ramie fabrics are emblazoned with bold geometrics softened by a pretty palette. 200 Varick Street,New York, NY 10014; 800-221-1540.

New from the creators of Imago is Varia, a recycled resin material, which can take on a variety of surface textures and can encapsulate any number of textiles. With such tremendous custom capabilities, Varia is sure to stretch the imagination while safeguarding the environment. Robin Reigi/Art & Objects, 601 West 26th Street, New York, NY 10001; 212-924-5558.

We were wowed by the wild patterning and dazzling geometrics possible with Caleidolegno. We also appreciated the eco-friendly nature of these reconstituted wood veneers, which utilize fast-growing wood species-such as poplar and obeche-from managed forests. For bolder colors and richer textures, Caleidolegno is also offered in panels. WTP Corporation, 485 Sylvan Avenue, Englewood Cliffs, NJ 07632; 866-989-1111.

Momentum Textiles

We like the optimistic patterns and colors of the EverGreen collection, made with Terratex recycled polyester. Inspired by midcentury design, the line includes patterns that make a hip statement, patterns that coordinate, and solids to tie everything together. 17801 Fitch Street, Irvine, CA 92614; 949-833-8886.

Mannington Commercial

One of the company's latest carpet collections was inspired by the question "How can you do more with less?" The company set out to cut by 20 percent materials, yarn processing, and waste during production, and to use recycled materials in the backing. The resulting products are One Way, Round Trip, and E-Ticket, a woven linear patterned loop shown here. All are made using DuPont Antron Legacy nylon fibers. Box 12281, Calhoun, GA 30703; 800-241-2262.
