Members of the design trade, make sure to enter your name into the drawing for the Artistic Tile/BKLYN DESIGNS Vermont Quarry Bus Tour. The luxury stone and tile distributor is making it easy, too, by automatically entering anyone who pre-registers for the Brooklyn design fair's Trade Day into the drawing.
The tour will visit the Vermont Danby quarry inside Dorset Mountain, the largest underground marble quarry in the world. Active for over 100 years, the full-scale production facility produces as much as 4,000 square feet of slabs per day, unequaled in North America. Visitors will use the same tunnel entrance that has been used for more than a century to access 30-foot high marble galleries supported by massive roof pillars. Apropos for the Green Mountain State, the Danby quarry is LEED certified as it sits within 500 miles of many major U.S. cities, including New York—the home of BKLYN DESIGNS, which will be taking place May 7-9.
The tour will be led by Artistic Tile president Joshua Levinson, along with Luca Mannolini, a native of Carrarra, Italy, the traditional marble production capitol in a region where marble has been worked since Roman times.
