Spanish Design Exhibit at the Conran Shop

"ROJO" is a celebration of the vibrant color red.

Mairi Beautyman -- Interior Design, 4/2/2008 12:00:00 AM

A showcase of Spanish design is among the satellite events occurring throughout New York in conjunction with mega design event the International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF). Home furnishings design retailer the Conran Shop will present "ROJO" May 16-June 8, curated by designer Nani Marquina, and featuring interiors by product designer Luis Eslava, both from Spain.

A collaboration between Marquina and the Spanish Trade Commission Office, "ROJO" is a celebration of the vibrant color red. Eslava will create a floor-to-ceiling red backdrop for Nani's favorite pieces of Spanish furnishings and rugs. Nani's selections will be both classic and modern, commercially produced and prototypes. But one thing will tie everything together: the shade of red.

Featured products will be from designers including Eslava, Jaime Hayon, Emiliana, Ana Mir & Emili Padrós, Ramón Úbeda & Otto Canalda, PearsonLloyd, Jean Marie Massaud, and Santa & Cole, among others.

The Conran Shop is located at 407 East 59th Street. Hours are Monday - Friday 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m.; Saturday 10:00 a.m. - 7 p.m.; and Sunday 11:00 a.m. - 6 p.m. An invitation-only opening event will be held on Friday, May 16.
