American Public Transportation Association Honors HOK Chairman

HOK has completed several LEED-certified transportation projects.

HOK chairman Bill Valentine has earned a nod from the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) for his commitment to innovative and sustainable transportation. On October 9, he picked up the 2007 Outstanding Business Executive Award at the APTA's annual meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Each year, the APTA bestows the award on an executive "who has taken a leadership role in improving his or her company and in making significant contributions to the community and public transportation." Executives are CEO's or board members of APTA business members or companies.

"This award is a fitting tribute to a man who has had a profound positive impact on leading our firm and the entire industry toward environmentally responsible design," says HOK CEO Patrick MacLeamy.

HOK has several completed transit and transit-oriented projects under its belt. Among them are the Santa Clarita Transit Maintenance Facility in Santa Clarita, Calif., (LEED Gold) and Delta Air Lines Terminal A at Logan International Airport in Boston (LEED certified). Current projects on track to earn LEED certification include the Indianapolis International Airport Midfield Terminal in Indianapolis.

An HOK staff member since 1962, Valentine works out of the firm's San Francisco office.
