Architect Massimiliano Fuksas will be the guest of honor for a day during the 24th annual Cersaie International Exhibition of Ceramic Tile and Bathroom Furnishings , held in Bologna, Italy from September 26 through 30. Known for his artistic and pictorial freedom and his attention to urban issues in large metropolitan areas, the Lithuanian-born designer will preside over “Bologna and Cersaie–Visions for a New Architecture," the title and theme of the conference during the day of September 28.
Fuksas, who now lives and works in Rome and Paris, is best known in Italy for works such as the Ferrari Research Centre in Maranello and the sail in the new Milan exhibition centre. Lauded for his continuous experimentation on materials, he has often used Italian tiles in his works.
The Cersaie expo brings more than 1,000 exhibitors together under one roof, covering more than 1.6 million square feet of space. Nearly 88,000 international visitors are expected to attend the show, which covers ceramic tiles and stoves, sanitary installations, bathroom furnishings, fireplaces, materials and tools, and showroom displays. Related symposiums will also be held. Architect Thom Mayne of Morphosis will also attend the event, when he will be presented with an award from the University of Bologna, also on September 28.
We would love your feedback!
