Jean Dunand's gilt-lacquered chest of drawers from the 1920's, Georges Jouve's cocktail table in cement and painted steel, circa 1950, a 1940's Jean Royère stool in ebonized wood and goat hair. What do these pieces have in common, aside from being superb examples of mid-century French design? They're all part of the collection assembled by fashion designer Wolfgang Joop, and—along with 185 more lots—they're all being auctioned at Sotheby's in New York.

The pieces come from Joop's residences in New York, Monaco, and Potsdam, Germany. Other highlights include Paco Rabanne's 1960's bedspread in leather and metal and John Risley's 1957 screen in iron and fruitwood.
