Show Time

edited by Sheila Kim -- Interior Design, 2/1/2003 12:00:00 AM

Industry professionals once again convene for NeoCon West, the left coast's preeminent trade show and conference for commercial interiors and the built environment. Held at the Los Angeles Convention Center, the two-day event offers networking and educational opportunities, plus a preview of contract offerings from more than 200 exhibitors.

Standouts include Abet Laminati's Magnetico, a magnetic laminate that doubles as a dry-erase board. Davis Furniture's Aero bench, made of extruded aluminum and stainless steel, comes in two-seat to seven-seat versions, all ideal for outdoor use. Invision's tufted carpet Neutral Spaces is a play on the rectangle. Pacificrest Mills's Big Cities collection, featuring Solutia's new Prismatic carpet fiber, is suited to corporate, institutional, and retail projects (even those in small burgs). And a new seating collection from Richard Schultz Design combines a stainless-steel frame with vinyl-covered polyester mesh for a lounge chair, dining chair, and wheeled chaise longue.

NeoCon West kicks off with an address by Interface founder and board chairman Ray C. Anderson, who will share anecdotes concerning his company's business success and commitment to sustainability. Student Day activities include Oldershaw & DeMann principal Garth Oldershaw's presentation on design for the global environment. And young professionals from prominent firms are appearing on a panel moderated by the Viscusi Group's Stephen Viscusi. March 5-6; 800-677-6278; mmart.com.
